A small brush or sponge. Mild dish soap. Warm water. Here’s how to do it: Empty the water bag and remove the bite valve and straw from the hose. If you find that happening (especially on the climbs) take off one of the shoulder straps and let the heat escape from your back for a little bit. Spartan generally doesn't allow you to refill the packs when you're out on the course. If they do, its only from dedicated water filling stations (maybe one per course).
The Camelbak website dimensions have the new BFA as much smaller but that is not the case. I think Camelbak didn't put the correct dimensions as the "new" BFA seems to be the same size as the older version. It is much lighter and solid construction. The color selections are only black and tan according to the Camelbak website.

I wear a medium size Camelbak pack for adventure racing. It's definitely a little annoying (compared to running without), but you get used to it. And for long rides and runs, it's essential. Don't forget to dry out the bladder well after use though! Mold is NOT your friend.
